Apprenticeships give you the opportunity to work for an employer, earn a salary and gain a qualification at the same time. 


There are over 280 types of Apprenticeship and over 1,500 different job roles – anything from Engineering and Boat Building to Veterinary Nursing and Accountancy.

Apprenticeships are available at different levels:


  • Intermediate level Apprenticeship (Level 2) – equivalent to five GCSE passes.
  • Advanced level Apprenticeship (Level 3) – equivalent to two A level passes.
  • Higher Apprenticeship (Levels 4, 5, 6 & 7)- equivalent to a Foundation degree or above
  • Degree Apprenticeship (Levels 6 & 7)- equivalent to a Bachelors or Masters Degree

Who can apply for an Apprenticeship?

You can apply for an apprenticeship while you’re still at school. To start one, you’ll need to be:

  • 16 or over
  • living in England
  • not in full-time education

How to apply for an Apprenticeship

There are a number of ways that you can search and apply for Apprenticeships but the main source of Apprenticeship vacancies is the

National Apprenticeship website

If it is the first time that you have used the website you will be required to create an account and this will allow you to search the full range of Apprenticeships that are available and apply for any that you are interested in.
