People come to this website for all kinds of reasons.

Maybe you’re in year 11 and haven’t decided what to do after your exams.  Perhaps you’re in college or an apprenticeship but want to try something different.  It could be that you’re writing a job application and need some help.

We’re here to help.

The Careers For Young People website is here to help you make that next step.  There are a lot of ways we can do that, and not all of them will work for you.  We can help you by:

  • Using this website.  There’s a lot of good information on the site!  If you just need a quick answer to a question we’ve likely written about it here.
  • Emailing us.  Sometimes you have a really specific question and it’s not on the site.  If that’s the case you can always email us and we’ll help you out.  Email us at careersservice@warrington.gov.uk .
  • Speaking to us on chat.  If it’s within office hours (Mon-Fri 9am to 5pm) then it’s likely one of our team will be checking our chat.  This is a great way to get a fast reply to something you want to know.
  • Giving us a call.  Would you rather talk to someone than write it out?  You can call us on 01925 442 211.
  • Arranging an appointment.  Sometimes none of the above is enough, and if that’s the case we’ll ask if you want to come in for an appointment.  If you call or email about this one of our advisers will get in touch with you to book a time.

Where are the appointments?  What should I expect?

Most appointments are held at Contact Warrington.  This is in town, next to Cafe Caruso.  You don’t need to queue up when you come in – we have our own room on the right hand side of the building.  Just go up to the glass door and open it!

We also sometimes hold appointments at the Youth Cafe.  This is part of New Town House – the big building behind the Cockhedge Centre.  Look for the windows on the corner with ‘Youth Cafe’ stickers on them.  Someone will ask you if you are meeting someone when you enter – tell them you have a careers appointment and they’ll point you to the right person.

Your adviser will tell you if you need to bring anything specific with you to an appointment, but for your first appointment it’s a good idea to bring:

  • Your qualifications – if you have predicted grades then bring these.
  • Your CV – don’t worry if you don’t have one, we can help you make it.

Appointments are normally booked in for one hour, though they won’t always be that long.
